A community led allotment garden for members to grow their own food and participate in the development of the garden. The gardeners also work together to maintain a native plant garden which creates a beautiful community green space. Seasonal workshops and harvest celebrations are held for gardeners.
Senior and Children programs share a beautiful green space on our centre’s front yard where they grow a food and herb garden. This outdoor interactive program space is used as a tool to teach children about healthy lifestyles and environmental issues, focusing on topics like composting, food miles/local food etc. Seniors who use the garden benefit from this outdoor social activity.
A demonstration garden located in the front of Eastview, which focuses on food production and composting. The garden is supported by community volunteers. The harvest from the garden is donated to our Food Bank.
Community members attend free seasonal workshops that focus on food and gardening skills. Workshops include topics container gardening, canning/preserving, seed starting, and from scratch cooking.
